Northeast Radio SD News - Pierre, SD - South Dakota high school juniors and seniors interested in government service have an opportunity to apply for the 2026 Legislative Page Program, with the preferred application deadline set for October 3, 2025.

Students from any South Dakota school district—including home-schooled students—are eligible to serve as pages in either the House of Representatives or the Senate during one of five terms of the upcoming 101st South Dakota Legislative Session, which runs from January 12 to March 30, 2026, with a recess scheduled for March 13–29.

Pages assist with committee meetings in the mornings and floor sessions in the afternoons, support the Legislative Post Office, and help legislators as needed. Participants receive $55 per legislative day and take part in scheduled social activities.

To apply, students must:

·        Obtain sponsorship approval from a current legislator

·        Submit written permission from their school

·        Provide a completed application, cover letter, and two letters of recommendation

Applications and program details are available on the Legislative Research Council’s website.

While serving, students are housed in family homes in Pierre and Fort Pierre, typically in pairs or small groups. Residents willing to host student pages are encouraged to complete the Housing Questionnaire on the LRC website or call (605) 773-3251 to request a mailed copy.

The final application deadline is October 17, 2025. For more information, students may contact the Legislative Page Advisor at PageProgram@sdlegislature.gov or call (605) 773-5257.
