Northeast Radio SD News – South Dakota - The South Dakota Department of Social Services (DSS) has begun the process of issuing the remainder of November's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits this week.
DSS started processing the pending cases over the weekend. The benefits are expected to be loaded overnight and will be available to approximately 37,000 SNAP-eligible households in South Dakota beginning Tuesday.
Previously, DSS issued about $8 million in partial benefits last week. This partial payment was made in accordance with guidance from the Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services (FNS). The state is now issuing the remaining November benefits following the recent federal government shutdown. The two payments combined will equal the full November benefit amount for which a household has qualified.
Looking ahead, December SNAP benefits are expected to be issued on schedule on December 10.
Recipients are encouraged to check their balances using the SNAP app or portal. Any further updates will be posted on the DSS website at dss.sd.gov and shared via the department’s social media channels.
