Structure Fire Causes $350,000 in Damage Northwest of Brookings; No Injuries Reported

Northeast Radio SD News – Brookings, SD - A Sunday evening structure fire northwest of Brookings caused an estimated $350,000 in damage, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
First responders were dispatched at 5:06 p.m. to a residence at 2531 30th Street West after the occupant reported a fire on the exterior of the home that quickly spread inside. All occupants and pets were safely out of the residence before fire crews arrived.
The property owners, Dan and Donna Miller of Brookings, reported the damage estimate. The American Red Cross was notified and is assisting two displaced renters.
No injuries were reported. Fire crews remained on scene for roughly three hours.
The Brookings Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
