Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - A quiet morning on Sioux Conifer Road was disrupted on Saturday when a pickup truck veered off course and crashed into a residential garage, triggering a specialized emergency response to save the structure.

At approximately 9:00 AM, Watertown Fire Rescue was dispatched to the 2400 block of Sioux Conifer Road following reports of a “pickup vs. garage” accident. Upon arrival, first responders from Engine 3 and Medic 3 discovered a pickup truck protruding from an attached garage.

Structural Damage and Specialized Response

The impact was significant. The pickup reportedly struck parked vehicles in the garage, resulting in severe damage to three of the structure’s walls. Fearing a potential collapse, Engine 3 immediately requested additional specialized resources.

To secure the scene, Watertown Fire Rescue deployed:

·         Battalion 1

·         USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) Technical Support Trailer

·         Structural Collapse Specialists

Once on-site, these specialists constructed stabilizing shores—temporary supports designed to prevent further damage to the garage or the main residence.

Injuries and Investigation

The driver of the pickup was evaluated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and subsequently transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital. While the home was occupied at the time of the collision, authorities confirmed that the residents were unharmed.

Watertown Fire Rescue was assisted during the multi-agency response by the Codington County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, and Performance Towing and Recovery.
