Two Teens Fatally Injured in Meade County Crash

Northeast Radio SD News – Rapid City, SD - A single-vehicle crash north of Rapid City claimed the lives of two teenagers on Thursday night.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol responded to the scene at approximately 9:20 p.m. on Dec. 18, 2025, near the intersection of North Haines Avenue and Peterson Road.
According to preliminary crash information, a 16-year-old female was driving a 2015 Lexus ES northbound on North Haines Avenue. The vehicle left the roadway to the left and entered the ditch, where it overturned and rolled.
Both the driver and a 15-year-old male passenger were ejected from the vehicle. Authorities confirmed that both teenagers sustained fatal injuries at the scene.
Investigators noted that the driver was not wearing a seat belt. Whether the passenger was using a seat belt remains under investigation. Both individuals were residents of Rapid City.
The names of the deceased have not yet been released, as law enforcement is waiting to complete family notifications. The South Dakota Highway Patrol, an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, continues to investigate the incident.
