Watertown City Council Approves Land Purchase for New East Side Fire Station, Supporting Local Fire Rescue Expansion.

Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - The Watertown City Council has unanimously authorized City Manager Alan Stager to sign a purchase agreement for land intended to be the site of a future East Side Fire Station.

The land, approximately 2.5 acres in size, is being acquired from Patgar, LLC, and is situated on East 19th Street. City Manager Stager explained that the parcel is strategically important because it provides access to both 19th Street and Willow Creek Drive, which will be beneficial for emergency response.

Councilman Heuer made the motion to approve the authorization, which Councilman Mohrmann seconded.

During the discussion, Councilman Mohrmann thanked City Manager Stager and Chief Don Rowland for their work in finding the property and negotiating the purchase agreement.

The measure passed with a 7-0 vote, signaling full Council support for the East Side Fire Station project.
