Watertown Classic Figure Skating Competition Adds Legacy Cup Team Championship for 2026

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The Watertown Figure Skate Club has announced the Watertown Classic Legacy Cup, an annual club team championship debuting during this year's competition, Dec. 11–13, 2026, at the Prairie Lakes Ice Arena in Watertown.

For the first time in Watertown Classic history, participating figure skating clubs will compete for an overall team championship title and trophy alongside individual medals and personal bests.

Scoring and Competition Format

Under the new format, skaters, from developing competitors to experienced athletes, will earn points for their clubs based on individual placements. Every eligible performance contributes to a club's standing on the overall leaderboard.

Points will be combined across three categories to determine the team champion:

·         Freeskate events

·         Compulsory events

·         All individual showcase events

The club with the highest total points over the three-day event will be crowned the inaugural 2026 Watertown Classic Legacy Cup champion and take home the championship trophy.
