Watertown Figure Skate Club Celebrates Record‑Breaking 2026 Season at Blades of Success Banquet

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The Watertown Figure Skate Club wrapped up a historic year Sunday night during its annual Blades of Success Banquet, celebrating what organizers say is one of the most successful seasons in the club’s history.
Held at 2nd Street Station, the event highlighted major competitive achievements, national qualifications, and the continued growth of WFSC’s Learn to Skate and club programs.
A Season of Milestones
The 2025–2026 season brought record participation and standout accomplishments across all levels of the program. According to the club, this year’s achievements included:
· 213 Learn to Skate members
· 63 club-level skaters
· 164 U.S. Figure Skating tests passed
· Hundreds of medals earned
· 15 National Showcase qualifiers, with more than 50 routines advancing to Nationals
· 18 production skaters heading to Denver in August
· Two National Theatre on Ice teams are competing in California this June
· More than 900 attendees at the annual ice show
The season also included first Axels, double jumps, new test achievements, and expanded community involvement.
Top Skaters Recognized
WFSC presented several of its highest honors during the banquet, celebrating athletes who demonstrated excellence, leadership, and sportsmanship throughout the year.
Skater of the Year
· Learn to Skate: Fallyn Dailey
· Advance Team: Madison Johnson
These awards honor skaters who show dedication, perseverance, and a positive influence on their peers.
LTS USA WFSC Apprentice of the Year
· Dasia Woertink Recognized for her leadership and support within the Learn to Skate program, Woertink was praised for mentoring younger skaters and helping classes run smoothly.
Heart of WFSC Award
The club’s highest honor recognizes skaters who uplift others and strengthen the WFSC community.
· Advance Team Recipient: Molly Dailey
· Learn to Skate Recipient: Saralayna Johnson
U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalists Honored
WFSC celebrated four athletes who earned U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medal status — one of the sport’s most prestigious achievements:
· Elin Gossen — 2X Gold Medalist
· Abigail Reeves — 5X Gold Medalist
· Dasia Woertink — 5X Gold Medalist
· Sarah Hahn — Gold Medalist
Gold Medalists must pass the highest-level tests in their discipline, representing years of training and mastery.
Axel Award Recipients
The club also recognized skaters who landed their first Axel — one of the most challenging jumps in figure skating:
· Dorothy Peterson
· Lucy Barthel
· Molli Schmeling
· Brooklyn Bloom
A Community Built on Support
WFSC leaders emphasized that while medals and test achievements are important, the club’s greatest success lies in the friendships, confidence, and community built throughout the season.
“Success isn’t just measured in medals,” the club shared. “It’s measured in the community we create together.”
