Watertown Firefighters Stop Vacant Farmhouse Fire North of Town; No Injuries Reported

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Watertown Fire Rescue responded Friday evening to a reported house fire north of town, arriving to find flames coming from the front door of a vacant farmhouse at 16227 456th Avenue. The call came in at approximately 8:00 p.m. on August 7.

According to the department, firefighters quickly attacked the fire and prevented it from spreading throughout the structure. Two rooms sustained significant damage, but crews were able to protect and limit harm to the property owners’ personal belongings.

No one was inside the home when the fire began, and no injuries were reported.

South Shore Volunteer Fire Department assisted by shuttling water to the scene as part of a mutual aid request.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
