Watertown High School Oral Interp Team Headed to State Festival

Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - The Watertown High School Oral Interpretation team is set to compete at the State Festival this weekend, December 5 and 6, 2025, an event the city will host at Watertown High School. The team has qualified 10 students across various categories, reflecting the breadth of talent in the program.
The festival marks the culmination of the competitive season, where students showcase their interpretive performance skills. The following individuals and groups will represent the Watertown Arrow Oral Interp Team:
· Storytelling: Sonny Rader (12), who is making his fourth appearance at the State Festival.
· Poetry Reading: Cash Hoppe (10).
· Non-Original Oratory: Marley Greenfield (11), who is attending for the second time.
· Serious Reading: Taryn Koehn (12), also in her second year at the State Festival.
· Humorous Reading: Emily Kallemeyn (11), who is a three-time State Festival participant.
· Duo Reader’s Theater: Tysen Canfield (12) and Silas Masar (12), attending for the second time.
· Reader’s Theater Group: The group, which includes Sonny Rader, Tysen Canfield, Silas Masar, Abby Kruger (11), Emily Kallemeyn, and Chloe Ofstehage (10).
The small number next to each student’s name in the categories indicates how many years that student has represented WHS at the State Festival. Individual awards will be presented at the conclusion of each session, with Team Excellence Awards presented after the final session on Saturday.
The South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) State Oral Interpretation Festival is scheduled across five sessions on Friday and Saturday. The Watertown community extends its well-wishes to the team as they compete on their home turf.
