Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - A Watertown man is in custody after police arrested him Wednesday in connection with an ongoing investigation into the sexual abuse of a juvenile.
According to the Watertown Police Department, 23‑year‑old Alex Kowalski was taken into custody without incident on June 3 following allegations that he abused a juvenile over an extended period while in a position of trust and authority.
Kowalski is being held at the Codington County Detention Center on the following charges:
· One count of rape in the second degree
· Six counts of sexual contact with a child under 18 by a person in a position of authority
· Six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor

Police say the investigation remains active as additional evidence is reviewed. Bond for Kowalski has been set at $50,000 cash.
The Watertown Police Department is reminding parents and guardians to take any disclosure of abuse seriously. Officials advise adults to remain calm, listen, avoid conducting their own detailed questioning, and contact law enforcement so trained investigators can handle the report appropriately.
No further information is being released at this time. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
