Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The City of Watertown’s Mosquito Control Program has announced that adult mosquito populations have reached levels sufficient to trigger a spray event in several east-side neighborhoods on Tuesday evening.

Weather conditions permitting, spraying is scheduled to begin after 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, targeting the following areas:

·         The east side of Lake Kampeska, from Kampeska Lodge to Prairie Winds Golf Club

·         The Derby Downs neighborhood

·         The Prairie Haven neighborhood

City officials note that the adulticide used in the program is considered a relatively safe material, but residents are encouraged to take the following precautions:

·         Stay indoors while spraying is taking place in your area.

·         Keep children and pets inside during spraying and for approximately one hour afterward.

·         Rinse homegrown fruits and vegetables thoroughly with water before cooking or eating.

Spraying is weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled if conditions are unfavorable. Residents in the targeted areas should plan accordingly.
