Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The City of Watertown’s Mosquito Control Program has announced that adult mosquito counts have reached levels requiring spraying in parts of the city.
Weather permitting, mosquito‑control crews will begin spraying after 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, in the following areas:
· Northwest Watertown: North of 3rd Avenue North and west of Broadway
· Northeast Watertown: North of 3rd Avenue North and east of Broadway
City officials say the adulticide used in the mosquito‑control program is considered safe, but residents are encouraged to follow several precautionary measures during spraying:
· Remain indoors whenever spraying takes place.
· Keep children and pets inside during spraying and for about an hour afterward.
· Rinse homegrown fruits and vegetables thoroughly before cooking or eating.
The city reminds residents that sensitivity to mosquito‑control materials can vary and encourages these common‑sense steps to minimize exposure.
