Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The City of Watertown says mosquito spraying will take place tonight, August 26, in two sections of town after population counts reached the threshold for treatment.

According to a public service announcement from the city’s Mosquito Control Program, adult mosquito levels are high enough to trigger spraying in Southeast Watertown—defined as south of 3rd Avenue North and east of Broadway—and Southwest Watertown, south of 3rd Avenue North and west of Broadway.

Weather permitting, crews will begin spraying after 9 p.m. in the designated neighborhoods.

The city notes that while the adulticide used is considered safe, residents may want to take several precautionary steps during and shortly after spraying. The PSA advises people to stay indoors if possible, keep children and pets inside for about an hour after spraying, and rinse homegrown fruits and vegetables before eating.

The Mosquito Control Program will continue monitoring conditions and will announce additional spraying if needed.
