Watertown Mosquito Spraying Set for Tuesday Night Around Lake Kampeska

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The City of Watertown Mosquito Control Program has announced that adult mosquito populations have reached levels sufficient to trigger spraying in several local areas.

Weather permitting, mosquito spraying operations will commence after 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. The designated treatment areas include:

·         East Lake: The east side of Lake Kampeska (from Kampeska Lodge to the Prairie Winds Golf Club), along with the Derby Downs and Prairie Haven neighborhoods.

·         West Lake: The west side of Lake Kampeska (from Kampeska Lodge to the Prairie Winds Golf Club).

While the adulticide used by the mosquito control program is considered fairly safe, city officials strongly recommend taking common-sense precautions, as individual sensitivity to the spray can vary.

The City advises residents in the affected neighborhoods to follow these safety measures:

·         Remain indoors whenever spraying is actively taking place in your area.

·         Keep children and pets indoors during the spraying process and for approximately one hour afterward.

·         Thoroughly rinse all homegrown fruits and vegetables with water before cooking or eating them.
