Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - At its December meeting, the Watertown Municipal Utilities Board addressed an upcoming change for local utility customers: the launch of a new billing software system, scheduled to go live on February 1st. The board and staff took time to answer questions and clarify what customers can expect during the transition, with a particular focus on account numbers and automatic payment arrangements.
New Billing System Set for February Launch
It was reported that preparations for the new billing software are on track. The team has been engaged in extensive training over the past several months to ensure a smooth transition for both staff and customers. The new system is expected to modernize billing processes and improve the overall customer experience.
Changes to Utility Account Numbers
One of the most notable changes for customers will be the assignment of new utility account numbers. This update prompted questions from board members and the public, especially regarding how it might affect those enrolled in automatic payment programs.
Automatic Payments: What Customers Need to Know
The board clarified that customers who use Pre-Authorized Payment (PAP) for automatic bill pay will not need to take any action to maintain their payment arrangements. The new system will automatically recreate the necessary links for automatic payments, ensuring a seamless transition. Customers were reassured that their payments would continue without interruption, and any required changes would be handled internally by the utilities staff.
