Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Watertown Fire Rescue has received a $500 donation from the Watertown Optimist Club to support its children’s fire‑safety education programs.

Val Engels, President of the Watertown Optimist Club, presented the donation, which will help fund educational initiatives that teach local children about fire safety, prevention, and the role of first responders in the community.

Fire Rescue officials say the contribution will make a lasting impact by helping provide learning experiences, school visits, and other fire‑safety programming for children of all ages.

Jake Jorgenson of Watertown Fire Rescue thanked the club for its support, saying the funds will directly strengthen community safety.

“These funds will help us educate and empower our kids, and that makes our community safer for everyone,” Jorgenson said.

The Watertown Optimist Club continues to support youth‑focused programs and organizations throughout the community.
