Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The road to Rapid City will run through Hyde Stadium for Watertown Post 17. The 2026 Class A South Dakota American Legion Baseball Super Regional brackets were released Sunday, placing Watertown as the No. 10 seed and setting up a best‑of‑three showdown with No. 7 Pierre Post 8.

Game 1 is scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, at noon in Pierre. Game 2 will follow on Thursday, July 23, at noon, and if necessary, a deciding Game 3 will be played 30 minutes after Game 2.

A Familiar Opponent

The matchup comes just two weeks after the teams met in a July 6 doubleheader at Watertown Stadium, where Pierre swept Post 17 with 4–3 and 4–1 victories.

Watertown struggled to find consistency in those games, committing seven total errors and never fully settling in offensively.

State Tournament Stakes

The winner of the Pierre–Watertown series will advance to the 2026 Class A State Tournament, beginning July 28 in Rapid City. Host team Rapid City Post 22 has already secured the No. 1 seed and an automatic berth.

Other Super Regional Pairings

Across the state, the remaining Super Regional matchups are set:

·        No. 2 Sioux Falls West vs. No. 15 Huron

·        No. 3 Yankton vs. No. 14 Aberdeen

·        No. 4 Brandon Valley vs. No. 13 Spearfish

·        No. 5 Brookings vs. No. 12 Sioux Falls East

·        No. 6 Rapid City 320 vs. No. 11 Mitchell

·        No. 8 Harrisburg Gold vs. No. 9 Renner Royals

Watertown enters the postseason looking to flip the script from its recent meeting with Pierre and earn a return trip to the state tournament.
