Watertown School District Honors Jolene Sutton on Retirement After 25 Years of Service

Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - The Watertown School District has formally approved the retirement of long-time employee Jolene Sutton, who dedicated 25 years of service to the district, concluding her career at Lincoln Elementary School.


The school board approved the retirement, with board members expressing gratitude for her decades of service. “Thank you for 25 years of wonderful service, being just such a friendly person, a helpful person at a key spot, key position,” board member John Iverson commented.


Sutton was also acknowledged for being “Lincoln through and through” by Superintendent Dr. Jeff Danielsen.


Sutton’s last day was Friday, December 5th, which was marked by a special celebration at Lincoln Elementary. The school posted a tribute noting the profound impact of her service on the entire community.

A social media post from the elementary school indicated that a staff walkout was held for Sutton on Friday, despite the cold weather. Although a mid-year retirement, the school board noted that Sutton will still be honored at the district’s spring retirement celebration.
