Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - In a world that never stops evolving, the foundation of student success often starts in the boardroom. This week, the Watertown School District joins communities across the state to celebrate South Dakota School Board Recognition Week, running from February 16-20.
The week-long event serves as a public “thank you” to the five dedicated individuals who volunteer their time to navigate the complexities of modern education and advocate for Watertown's children.
A Legacy of Service
The Watertown School Board comprises local leaders with diverse experience, united by a common goal: empowering every student to succeed.
This year’s recognized members include:
· Jon Iverson, President (5 years of service)
· Kari Lohr, Vice President (5 years of service)
· Jean Moulton, Member (7 years of service)
· Bailey Raml, Member (1 year of service)
· Roshal Rossman, Member (3 years of service)
More Than Just Meetings
While many see the board only during televised meetings, its impact is felt in every classroom. These elected officials are responsible for setting the district’s long-term vision, adopting vital policies, and hiring the high-quality educators who mentor Watertown’s youth.
“As elected leaders, school board members serve as the link between the school and community members,” said Superintendent Dr. Jeff Danielsen. “They work tirelessly for our students, staff, and community.”
Dr. Danielsen noted that the week is a vital opportunity to recognize the board’s dedication to ensuring the district remains a place where students can thrive despite an “ever-changing world.”
Join the Celebration
The Watertown School District invites students, staff, and local residents to take a moment this week to show their appreciation for these public servants. Whether through a note of thanks or a word of encouragement, the district aims to highlight the vital “link” these members provide between the schools and the taxpayers they serve.
