Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The local landscape is set for a seasonal change this week as the Watertown Area Community Foundation, in partnership with the Watertown Artwalk committee, begins the deinstallation of the current Artwalk sculptures.

On Friday, April 10, crews and volunteers will begin the careful removal of several high-profile art pieces that have inhabited the city over the 2025-2026 season.

Locations Impacted

Residents and visitors should expect to see activity at several key points throughout the community. Sculptures will be removed from the following locations:

·        Downtown Watertown: Along Kemp Avenue at the intersections of Broadway, Maple, and 2nd Street N.E.

·        Redlin Art Center: On-site sculpture removal.

·        Lake Area Technical College: Campus sculpture removal.

·        Willow Creek Drive: Near Meyer Insurance.

Among the pieces being retired this season is the notable sculpture titled “Weight,” which has been a fixture of the 2025-2026 collection.

Public Safety and Future Plans

Organizers are asking the public to use caution when traveling through these areas on Friday. Work zones will be active as crews and volunteers maneuver to safely secure and transport each piece.

While the current sculptures are heading to their next destinations, the vacancy won’t last long. The Watertown Area Community Foundation has confirmed that new sculptures for the upcoming Artwalk season are scheduled for installation later this spring.

“The Watertown Area Community Foundation extends its appreciation to the volunteers, partners, and community members who support Artwalk each year,” the organization stated in a release.
