Watertown Traffic Alert: North Broadway Closing, North Maple Reopening for 5th Avenue Construction

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The City of Watertown Public Works Department is advising drivers of upcoming traffic changes tied to the 2026 street construction projects.

Traffic routes will continue to shift as work progresses, and the city notes that schedules may change depending on weather or other unforeseen conditions.

5th Avenue North – Neighborhood Street Reconstruction

As of Tuesday, the intersection of North Broadway Street is open, and North Maple Street is closed. Beginning Wednesday morning, July 29, those conditions will reverse:

·         N Broadway Street intersection will close

·         N Maple Street intersection will reopen

The closure at North Broadway Street is expected to remain in place for an extended period while contractors work in that area. The intersection at North Maple Street and 5th Avenue will stay open to traffic.

Contractors will keep cross streets open when possible to help maintain traffic flow. Drivers are asked to follow posted signage and directions from flaggers when traveling near construction zones.
