Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - The Watertown Area United Way's 2025-2026 annual campaign has achieved significant success, officially reaching 80% of its fundraising goal. The organization announced the milestone with gratitude for the community's generosity, while emphasizing the need for a final push to reach 100%.
The funds raised are vital to local children, families, and individuals who depend on the essential services provided by United Way's network of partner agencies. United Way's mission is to meet the human care needs of Watertown Area residents through its three main focus areas: Education, Health, and Financial Stability.
"Thanks to the generosity of our donors, volunteers, and community partners, we have officially reached 80% of our campaign goal!" the organization stated in a recent update on social media. "There’s still time to make a difference... Help us fill our hearts."
The Watertown Area United Way has also announced in July the 2025-2026 Campaign Chairs, Jason and Tia Hutt, who will lead the final efforts to ensure the campaign meets its full target.
The United Way Board of Directors is committed to addressing community issues to make positive changes in people's lives through four main impact areas:
· Strengthen Families: Ensuring families have the knowledge, skills, and access to safe, affordable resources needed to thrive.
· Help Watertown Area Youth Succeed: Supporting healthy development and providing opportunities for children and youth to achieve their full potential in safe learning environments.
· Support Vulnerable and Aging Populations: Providing nurturing support systems, access to comprehensive health care, and services that foster independence.
· Promote Self-Sufficiency: Aiding residents in gaining quality education, life and work skills, and access to quality jobs and career opportunities.
The campaign's success is critical to funding a diverse range of local programs focused on Education, Health, or Financial Stability needs. The 31 supported programs include community mainstays such as:
· Beacon Center
· Boys and Girls Club of Watertown, Inc.
· The Salvation Army of Watertown
· Interlakes Community Action Partnership (ICAP) for programs like Head Start and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
· Lake Area Technical College - Adult Education & Literacy Program
· Watertown Area People Against Child Hunger (PACH)
Community members who wish to contribute to the final 20% of the campaign goal can donate online via United Way's website.
