Watertown Yard Waste Drop-Off Site Opens Oct. 14: Hours, Rules, and Free Landfill Option

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The City of Watertown announced that its 4th Avenue Yard Waste Drop‑Off Site will open for the season on Tuesday, Oct. 14, giving residents another option to dispose of leaves, branches, garden waste, and other yard debris.
According to the city’s public service announcement, the site will operate Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the closing date determined by weather conditions.
“Beginning October 14, the drop site will be open Tuesday–Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.”
Residents may also haul yard waste to the Watertown Regional Landfill at no charge by presenting a current utility bill showing garbage service.
“Residents can also haul yard waste, garden waste, leaves and tree branches to the Landfill for free by presenting a current utility bill showing garbage service.”
Branch & Leaf Requirements
The city reminds residents of the following guidelines:
· Branches must be under 6 inches in diameter and no more than 8 feet long.
· All loads must be secured; unsecured loads are charged double the tipping fee.
· Leaves and branches must be unloaded in separate designated areas.
· No branches may be placed in the compost rows.
