Northeast Radio SD News – South Dakota - An Aberdeen, South Dakota, man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison after being convicted of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Charles B. Kornmann on December 4, 2025, according to an announcement from United States Attorney Ron Parsons.

Calvin Taylor, 42, was sentenced to 300 months (25 years) in federal custody. Following his release, he will be subject to five years of supervised release. Taylor was also ordered to pay a fine and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Taylor was initially indicted by a federal grand jury in November 2024 and pleaded guilty to the conspiracy charge on June 2, 2025.

According to investigators, Taylor’s involvement began in February 2024 when he started having packages of methamphetamine mailed from a source of supply in California to various addresses in Aberdeen and the surrounding area. Taylor then sold the drugs to other members of a conspiracy for distribution locally. At sentencing, approximately 4.5 pounds of distributed methamphetamine was attributed to Taylor’s actions.

The case was investigated collaboratively by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, the Aberdeen Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Joyce prosecuted the case.

Taylor has been ordered to self-report to the U.S. Marshals Service on or before December 26, 2025, to begin serving his sentence.
