City of Watertown Announces Facility Closures for Juneteenth

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The City of Watertown has announced that municipal offices and several public facilities will be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth federal holiday.


Residents are advised to plan ahead for the temporary interruption of standard administrative services and facility access.


The holiday closures for this Friday include, but are not limited to, the following public locations:

·         City Hall

·         Watertown Regional Library

·         Watertown Regional Landfill

·         Park & Rec Fieldhouse


Normal business hours and operations for all city facilities will resume at the start of the following week. As with all federal holidays, essential emergency services—including local police, fire, and EMS departments—will remain fully operational throughout the closure.


Juneteenth, officially recognized as Juneteenth National Independence Day, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.
