Northeast Radio SD News – Clear Lakes, SD - In an effort to build a more resilient community, the local non-profit Lost & Found is bringing a vital mental health resource to Deuel County this month.
On Monday, March 30, 2026, the Clear Lake Fire Department will host a free QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Certification training. The 90-minute session is designed to equip everyday citizens with the same life-saving logic as CPR, but for mental health crises.
What is QPR?
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer. It is an evidence-based training that teaches “gatekeepers”—which can be anyone from parents and teachers to neighbors and coworkers—how to:
· Recognize the early warning signs of a suicide crisis.
· Question a person directly about their thoughts and intentions.
· Persuade them to seek and accept professional help.
· Refer the individual to appropriate local and national resources.
Event Details
The training is open to the public, and organizers emphasize that no prior medical or mental health background is required to attend.
· Date: Monday, March 30, 2026
· Time: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
· Location: Clear Lake Fire Dept. | 311 HWY 22 E, Clear Lake, SD
