Codington County 4-H Achievement Days Return to Watertown August 3–6

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - Codington County 4‑H members will showcase months of learning, leadership, and hands‑on project work during the 2026 4‑H Achievement Days, set for August 3–6 at the Codington County Extension Complex, 1910 West Kemp Avenue.
Organizers say this year’s theme — Beyond Ready — reflects how 4‑H prepares young people for a future filled with opportunity and change.
According to the release, “4‑H equips young people with the skills, confidence, and resilience to lead in a world full of opportunity and change.”
As part of America’s largest youth development organization, 4‑H engages more than 6 million youth nationwide through clubs, camps, school programs, and community events. The national Beyond Ready initiative aims to prepare 10 million youth for work and life by 2030.
Locally, Codington County 4‑H members participate in public speaking, community service projects, livestock care, shooting sports, cooking, sewing, and other life‑skill‑building activities. Leaders say those experiences help youth grow into community‑minded leaders.
The release notes, “We see that every day in the way they show up to learn and lead.”
Volunteers, alumni, and mentors also play a key role in delivering programs and supporting youth. Whether serving at community banquets, helping with local projects, or presenting exhibits at the county fair, 4‑H members build teamwork, communication, and flexibility — skills that will benefit them throughout their careers.
The public is invited to attend Achievement Days and see firsthand the projects, livestock shows, and demonstrations that highlight the work of Codington County’s 4‑H youth.
