Codington County Certifies 2026 South Dakota GOP Governor Primary Runoff Results in Watertown

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The Codington County Board of Commissioners officially canvassed and approved the results of the 2026 primary runoff election during their regular meeting on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

Commissioners double-checked each precinct’s entry as presented by County Auditor Brenda Hanten against the physical tabulator numbers before certifying the official totals for the Republican gubernatorial primary runoff between Toby Doeden and Larry Rhoden.

Board Approval and Certification

Following the reading of all precinct numbers, Commissioner Myron Johnson made a motion to approve the canvass as read. Commissioner Tyler McElhany seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

Commissioners signed four official copies of the canvass document. One hard copy will be submitted to the state, while three copies will be kept on file with Codington County.
