The Beacon Center has launched an ambitious “12 Days of Christmas” campaign to secure vital, unrestricted operational funding. This comprehensive fundraising initiative, which runs from December 9th through the 20th, follows the recent success of the “Sell-A-Song” event and aims to ensure the continuity of essential services amidst reported funding cutbacks.
Development Coordinator Kellee Dragt and Outreach Coordinator Shona Marshall shared details of the campaign during a recent local radio interview. The funds raised will be crucial for covering utility costs and salaries, as well as providing direct assistance to clients not covered by specific grants.
The two weeks of events offer diverse ways for the community to participate and support the center’s mission of providing hope, safety, and resources to survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Key events scheduled for the campaign include:
Christmas Tree Auction: The campaign begins with an auction for an already decorated Christmas tree, which includes a $750 gift certificate for St. Nick’s Christmas Lighting to install 100 feet of roof-line lights next year. The package is valued at approximately $1,000, and bidding closes on December 9th.
Singing Telegrams: On December 10th, community members can pay a suggested $20 donation to send a Christmas carol sung by volunteers, including Beacon Center staff, to a surprised recipient.
Trivia Night: The Beacon Center will join the weekly trivia night at the Watertown Brewery on December 11th, starting at 7 P.M. The evening is free to attend and will promote the center’s mission and services.
Adult Craft Night: Limited tickets are available for a hands-on Create Your Own Christmas Doormat event at the Beacon Center on December 18th, which will include tours of the facility.
Procrastinators Vendor Show: The campaign concludes with a vendor show on December 20th at the Watertown Event Center, featuring approximately 30 vendors selling a variety of goods for last-minute shopping.

The effort highlights the community’s commitment to supporting survivors. The Beacon Center encourages all citizens to participate in the events or contribute through their “Buy a Bulb” fundraiser or “Wipe Out Wish List.” For a complete list of events and details, the public can visit the Beacon Center website.
