Council Approves Annexation and Commercial Zoning for Berven’s Addition Along Highway 212

Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The Watertown City Council approved both the annexation and commercial zoning of Lot 1 of Berven’s Addition, a 10‑acre property along Highway 212 that borders city limits on three sides.
Community Development Manager Brandi Hanten presented the request.
“This is the second reading of an annexation and zoning for the property at Lot 1 of Berven’s Addition,” Hanten said. “It’s approximately a 10‑acre piece of property that abuts city limits on three sides. It will be zoned C‑3 highway commercial district, and that is in conformance with the comprehensive land use plan.”
Councilman Dan Schutte moved to approve Resolution 26‑- 14 to annex the property, seconded by Councilman Brent Mohrmann. The vote passed unanimously.
The council then approved Ordinance 26‑- 10, assigning the C-3 Highway Commercial zoning designation.
The approvals position the property for future commercial development along one of Watertown’s busiest corridors.
