Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The Watertown City Council approved Resolution 26‑16, offering formal support for High Five Development LLC as the company seeks financial assistance from the South Dakota Housing and Development Authority for Phase II of the Prairie Haven development.

City Manager Alan Stager explained the purpose of the resolution.

“This is a resolution of support similar to resolutions you have passed several times this year,” Stager said. “There is no commitment on behalf of the city… but this does support some credibility to the developer’s plan that indeed if the developer develops housing, we are stating that we need housing in our community.”

Councilman Allen asked why the council needed to take action if the resolution did not obligate the city.

Stager clarified:

“This does do something for the developer,” he said. “He can use this to access additional resources.”

The resolution passed unanimously.
