Driver Facing DUI Charge After Two-Vehicle Crash Near Castlewood Leaves Minor Injuries

Northeast Radio SD News – Castlewood, SD - Emergency crews responded Saturday afternoon to a two‑vehicle crash at the intersection of South Dakota Highway 22 and County Road 464, approximately five miles northeast of Castlewood, according to the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office.
Watertown Regional Dispatch received the 911 call at 3:20 p.m. on July 4. Responders reported minor injuries, but no one involved required transport to a hospital.
Agencies on scene included the Castlewood Fire Department, Castlewood Ambulance, the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol. Emergency personnel remained at the intersection for about an hour to manage the scene and assist with vehicle removal. Performance Towing of Watertown removed one of the vehicles involved.
The Sheriff’s Office said one driver is facing DUI charges in connection with the crash. The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
