Early Morning House Fire Destroys Home in Estelline

Northeast Radio SD News – Estelline, SD – A home in Estelline was destroyed by fire early Wednesday morning after flames broke out in the 200 block of 5th Street North.
According to the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office, Watertown Regional Dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 1:40 a.m. reporting that a neighbor’s residence was on fire. The caller told dispatchers that all occupants had safely exited the home before emergency crews arrived.
The Estelline Fire Department, Estelline Ambulance, and Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Firefighters found active flames on the southeast corner of the structure and smoke coming from the attic. Crews remained on site for more than two hours to contain and extinguish the blaze.
No injuries were reported. The home is considered a total loss, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
