Four Fallen Heroes Bridges to Be Dedicated in Sisseton, South Dakota

Northeast Radio SD News – Sisseton, SD - The South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs will honor four veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their nation during a regional Fallen Hero Bridge Dedication ceremony. The event is scheduled for 5 p.m. Central Time on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Tribal Administration Building in Sisseton.


The ceremony is part of the statewide Fallen Heroes Bridge Dedication initiative, a collaborative partnership between the South Dakota Departments of Veterans Affairs, Military, and Transportation. The program establishes enduring tributes to honor military service and serves as a lasting reminder to future generations.

Four bridges in the region will receive new designations honoring fallen service members:


·         The U.S. Highway 81 bridge over Interstate 29 at exit 180, north of Watertown, will be dedicated as the Sergeant First Class Ronald L. Reil Bridge.

·         The South Dakota Highway 10 bridge over an unnamed creek in Sisseton will be dedicated as the Specialist Four Gerald L. Aadland Bridge.

·         The South Dakota Highway 10 bridge over the Little Minnesota River, east of Sisseton, will be dedicated as the Seaman 2nd Class Laverne A. Nigg Bridge.

·         The South Dakota Highway 10 bridge over Interstate 29 at exit 232, east of Sisseton, will be dedicated as the Specialist Four Arden K. Renville Bridge.


The Tribal Administration Building is located at 12554 BIA Highway 711 in Sisseton.
