Northeast Radio SD News – Grant County, SD - Childcare providers across Grant County will soon have access to new financial support aimed at strengthening local childcare capacity, thanks to a major grant awarded this week.

The Grant County Development Corporation (GCDC) announced it has received $75,000 from the South Dakota Community Foundation to launch the Bright Futures Childcare Initiative — a countywide program designed to support existing childcare providers and help new ones get started.

According to GCDC, the Bright Futures program was built directly from feedback gathered over the past two years from childcare providers, employers, and community partners.

“You told us what you needed to keep your doors open and grow. We listened,” the organization said.

What the Bright Futures Initiative Will Support

While final program details are still being finalized, GCDC says funding is expected to assist with:

·         Start‑up and expansion costs for new or growing childcare operations

·         Business sustainability support to help providers remain financially stable

·         Increasing infant and toddler care capacity, one of the most challenging and costly age groups to serve

The initiative is open to:

·         Licensed childcare centers

·         In‑home daycare providers

·         Individuals considering starting a childcare business

Applications Open August 17

GCDC expects applications to open Monday, August 17, with full eligibility details and application instructions to be released in the coming weeks.

Providers are encouraged to follow the Grant County Development Corporation Facebook page and visit www.grantcountysd.com for updates.

The organization also encouraged residents to share the announcement:

“Know a provider in Grant County? Tag them or share this post so they’re ready when applications open.”

The Bright Futures Childcare Initiative aims to help close the childcare gap in rural South Dakota — a challenge that has impacted families, employers, and communities across the region.
