Northeast Radio SD News – Bryant, SD - The Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help after staff at the Bryant Swimming Pool discovered a break‑in and property damage early Monday.

According to Lt. Tayt Alexander, deputies were contacted on July 27 regarding a reported burglary at the pool. Staff told investigators the facility had closed around 7:00 p.m. Sunday, and the concession area had been restocked with pop and candy for the next day.

When employees returned at 11:00 a.m. Monday, they found a lifeguard stand pushed into the swimming pool. Staff removed the stand and returned it to its proper location.

Further inspection revealed that four cans of Sprite had been taken from a refrigerator in the concession area. The missing items are valued at approximately $4.00, and no other thefts have been reported.

Deputies also found damage to the perimeter fencing. A metal bar on a section of chain‑link fence had been bent, which investigators believe may have been the point of entry. Damage to the fence is estimated at $100.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity at the Bryant Swimming Pool between Sunday evening and Monday morning to contact investigators.

Information can be reported to the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office at 605‑783‑3232.

The investigation remains ongoing.
