Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - The Watertown City Council has approved the final Change Order for the 2025 Crack Sealing and Chip Sealing Project, adding about $52,000 to the contract.

The change order, awarded to Asphalt Preservation Company LLC, raises the total contract amount to $588,000.

City Engineer Justin Petersen explained that the adjustment was necessary to account for final quantities used during the completion of the pavement preservation work, known as the crack, chip, and fog project. Petersen noted that the project ran over budget, but offered context for the increase.

"It did run over budget, but... a few weeks ago we had a mill and overlay project that ran under budget roughly about the same amount," Petersen stated.

The motion to approve the change order was made by Councilman Peters and seconded by Councilman Mohrmann—the motion carried by a unanimous voice vote.
