Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - The City of Watertown Public Works Department is scheduled to begin repairs that will affect traffic flow on Highway 212 starting Wednesday morning, October 1, 2025. The work, focused on the intersection of Highway 212 and 6th Street East, involves the removal and replacement of a damaged manhole frame and cover, as well as an approximately 12-foot square section of the Highway 212 concrete roadway.

The Watertown Public Works Department is set to start work on the 2025 Intersection Improvements Project at the intersection of 10th Avenue NE and US Highway 81, beginning Monday, September 29. The project scope includes reconstructing the roadway to install a turn lane. This will require the closure of 10th Avenue NE from US Highway 81 to 7th Street NE. The work is scheduled to be completed by October 4, pending any unforeseen issues and weather conditions.

Drivers in Sioux Falls should prepare for a temporary traffic diversion on Interstate 229 this Tuesday evening, Sept. 23, 2025. Beginning at 7 p.m., the northbound lanes of I-229 will be closed near Cliff Avenue (exit 4) to allow maintenance crews to repair the asphalt at the temporary bridge.

At Tuesday morning’s meeting, the Codington County Commissioners held a public discussion on the county’s five-year highway and transportation plan, led by Highway Superintendent Randy Falvey. Drivers in Clark County should prepare for a new road closure beginning Monday, September 15, as crews continue work on an infrastructure project along South Dakota Highway 25. The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) announced that Highway 25 will be closed from Highway 20 north for three miles to allow grading operations. A signed detour will guide passenger vehicles around the work zone via 437th Avenue and 155th Street (County Road 20).
