Kecia Beranek Named Executive Director of Glacial Lakes and Prairies Tourism Association in Watertown, South Dakota
Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The Glacial Lakes and Prairies Tourism Association Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Kecia Beranek as its new Executive Director.
Beranek brings more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, economic development, tourism, and business advocacy across South Dakota. She most recently served as Northeastern Representative for the South Dakota Retailers Association, where she supported over 800 business members across 15 counties.
Her career also includes serving as Executive Director of On Hand Development Corporation in Miller, where she advanced housing, workforce, and business development initiatives. Beranek’s background spans communications work with the Deadwood Chamber, entrepreneurship as a hospitality business owner, and leadership training through Leadership South Dakota. She is a graduate of Black Hills State University.

said Val Rausch, President of the Board of Directors.
“She knows northeast South Dakota, she knows how to be the face of an organization, and she knows how to get results.”
Beranek expressed excitement about the role:

I look forward to working with our members, partners, and the South Dakota Department of Tourism to grow our visitor economy and ensure our 20‑county region is seen, heard, and thriving.”
Beranek will be based in Miller, while the Association’s office will remain open at the Redlin Art Center in Watertown. She officially begins her role on Monday, September 21.
Founded in 1962, the Glacial Lakes and Prairies Tourism Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the visitor industry in northeastern South Dakota. Representing 20 counties, the Association partners with the South Dakota Department of Tourism and other regional groups to market the area’s glacial lakes, prairies, outdoor recreation, and welcoming communities to visitors nationwide.
