Lake Area Technical College Gears Up for Homecoming Week 2025

Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - Lake Area Technical College (LATC) is gearing up for Homecoming Week 2025, set for September 29 through October 3, with a full slate of activities designed to showcase school spirit, friendly competition, and program pride.


The highlight of the week will be the LATC Olympics, where programs compete head-to-head in a series of contests for a championship trophy. Teams of four to six athletes can register, and each program is encouraged to field multiple teams.


Monday, Sept. 29

·        Campus-Wide Scavenger Hunt — All day, across campus.

·        Window/Door Decorating Challenge* — All day, judged Wednesday.

·        LATC Olympics: Steal the Flag* — 4:30 p.m., LATC Green.


Tuesday, Sept. 30

·        Surgical Technology Ribbon Cutting Ceremony — 10:30 a.m., celebrating new classroom and lab facilities.

·        LATC Olympics: Bridge Building Competition* — All day in the NET, judged at 4:30 p.m.

·        Campfire and Music — 7:00 p.m., LATC Green.


Wednesday, Oct. 1

·        LATC Olympics: Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament* — All day, campus-wide.

·        LATC Olympics: Put Out the Fire Relay* — 4:30 p.m., LATC Green.


Thursday, Oct. 2

·        LATC Olympics: Softball Toss* — 4:30 p.m., PREMIER Softball Complex.


Friday, Oct. 3

·        Spirit Day — All day, with prizes for Most Creative, Most Spirit, and Funniest LATC gear. Photos at the Admissions Office.

·        Olympics Trophy Presentation — Noon, Market 65.


A Week of Spirit and Competition

Throughout the week, students will have opportunities to earn points for their programs in the LATC Olympics, with winners announced during Friday’s trophy presentation. Events range from strategy-based contests, like “Steal the Flag,” to endurance challenges, such as the “Put Out the Fire Relay.”


Homecoming Week also includes community-building activities, such as a campus-wide scavenger hunt and an evening campfire featuring live music.
