Lake Area Technical College to Host Free Financial Aid Workshop

Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - Lake Area Technical College will host a free Financial Aid Saturday on Feb. 7, 2026, to assist students and families with the federal student aid process.

The event, which is open to the public, will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 1105 on the Lake Area Tech campus. The workshop is designed to provide hands-on help for those navigating the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and creating FSA IDs.

During the Session, attendees will receive personal assistance with completing the FAFSA, answers to specific financial aid questions, and step-by-step guidance on logging in to the federal student aid website.

To electronically sign the application, both students and at least one parent must create an FSA username and password. While these accounts can be made during the event, organizers suggest setting them up in advance at studentaid.gov. Students attending the workshop should bring a form of identification and their Social Security number.

“Completing the FAFSA can be confusing, but our Financial Aid Saturday provides one-on-one support to make the process easier and ensure students maximize their financial aid opportunities,” said Bryce LeBlanc, Financial Aid Director at Lake Area Technical College.
