Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - In an announcement at the conclusion of the Codington County Commissioner meeting on Tuesday, Commissioner Myron Johnson revealed he will be stepping down from the board at the end of his current term.
Johnson informed his colleagues that he has officially withdrawn his nominating petition for the upcoming election. He joked about his previous attempts to leave public service.
“I’m going to try to retire again,” Johnson said with a smile. “Failed the first time, so we’ll try again. I will be with you until the end of the year.”
Johnson has served on the commission for 16 years. Fellow commissioners expressed their reluctance to see him go, while Johnson confirmed he would continue to fulfill his duties on various boards, including the South Dakota Retirement Board, until January 1, 2027.
