Northeast Radio SD News - Watertown, SD - Codington County is seeing a “gold rush” for summer camping spots. Facility Manager Steve Molengraaf informed the board that online bookings for the upcoming camping season, which opened February 1, have already generated significant revenue.
As of February 15, the county has recorded 163 reservations, totaling $30,806 in revenue.
While summer recreation looks bright, the department is dealing with a minor structural headache at the Ag Building. Molengraaf reported that new concrete in front of the doors has frost-heaved, preventing the doors from opening or closing properly.
“The last day, we had to pry it to get it closed,” Molengraaf said. “It’s lifting up in one corner. The contractor ground some of the concrete down so we can get it open... they are planning on fixing the concrete this summer.”
The department also welcomed a new maintenance technician, Charlie Dally, who began work this week.
Additionally, Molengraaf announced that the Annual Weed Board Meeting and soup supper with the townships is set for March 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the Extension Complex.
