Northeast Radio SD News - Milbank, SD - The Milbank School District returned to normal operations Friday afternoon after a morning threat sparked an intensive sweep of campus buildings and parking lots by local and federal law enforcement.

District officials confirmed that all students and staff are safe and that no credible devices or threats were discovered on-site.

Rapid Response and Investigation

The situation began earlier today when the district received a direct threat. School administration immediately notified local law enforcement, triggering an expansive response that included:

·        The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI)

·        SWAT teams

·        The FBI

While law enforcement conducted a thorough “sweep” of the facilities, the school was placed under a soft lockdown. During this period, the district urged parents to allow students to remain in the building to ensure perimeter safety and enable officers to work efficiently.

“All Clear” Issued

At approximately 1:20 PM, the district announced that law enforcement had completed its sweep of both buildings and parking lots.

“At no time were any threats found inside the building, and student and staff safety remained our top priority throughout the process,” the district stated in a public update. “We appreciate the cooperation and professionalism of our students and staff during this situation.”

Next Steps

While the school day has resumed as normal, the investigation is far from over. The FBI and local authorities are currently working to trace the source of the initial call.

District officials emphasized that all safety protocols were followed immediately and thanked the community for its patience during the lockdown.
