One Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash Near Lake Poinsett

Northeast Radio SD News – Lake Poinsett, SD - A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 459th Avenue and 194th Street near Lake Poinsett on Thursday afternoon resulted in one injury and a citation for a traffic violation.


The incident was reported to the Watertown Regional Dispatch Center at approximately 3:06 p.m. on Thursday, November 6th, 2025.


According to a news release from the Hamlin County Sheriff's Office, the crash involved a vehicle traveling southbound on 459th Avenue and a second vehicle traveling westbound on 194th Street. The two vehicles collided at the intersection.


The driver of the southbound vehicle was taken by Estelline Ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries from the crash.


Emergency responders from the Estelline Fire Department and Estelline Ambulance responded to the scene, along with the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the incident.


The investigation led to the driver of the westbound vehicle being cited for failing to obey a stop sign. BES Towing was called to remove the damaged vehicles from the intersection.


The Hamlin County Sheriff's Office stated the incident remains under investigation. Any individuals listed as defendant(s) in relation to the crash are presumed innocent under the U.S. Constitution.
