Rollover Crash on I-29 Injures Two Near Castlewood

Northeast Radio SD News - Castlewood, SD - Two individuals were taken to a local hospital following a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 29 (I-29) in Hamlin County this morning, Monday, December 8, 2025.
At approximately 8:41 a.m., emergency crews responded to the incident near Mile Marker 169 in the southbound lanes of I-29.
Preliminary reports from the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office indicate that a vehicle initially traveling northbound left the roadway, entered the median, rolled, and ultimately came to rest on its side in the southbound lanes.
The two occupants of the vehicle were transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. The severity of their injuries was not immediately released.
Southbound traffic on I-29 was temporarily affected while the Castlewood Fire Department, Castlewood Ambulance, Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol secured the scene. Performance Towing assisted with the removal of the vehicle from the roadway.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
