Northeast Radio SD News - Castlewood, SD - The Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the owner of a dog that has been loose in the countryside for several days. The dog has been sighted approximately four miles northeast of Castlewood, near the intersection of 181st Street and 463rd Avenue.

The Hamlin County Sheriff's Office issued an alert on Monday, September 29, 2025, after two dogs were found running loose in rural Hazel. The Sheriff's Office received a call on Monday morning regarding the two dogs. They were last seen near the intersection of 447th Avenue and 182nd Street.

Emergency crews responded to a rollover crash near 447th Avenue and 180th Street on Tuesday afternoon, September 22, after a passerby reported a vehicle partially submerged in water. The 911 call came in at 2:33 p.m., prompting the dispatch of Lake Norden Ambulance, Hazel Fire Department, and Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office. First responders arrived to find a truck with its cab halfway underwater.
