Northeast Radio SD News – Grant County, SD - Multiple fire departments and emergency agencies responded Saturday morning to a shed fire at Victory Farms, located near the intersection of 482 and 153. The call came in at 9:49 a.m., reporting a tractor on fire inside a steel shed containing straw and sawdust.
Milbank Fire arrived on scene and quickly requested mutual aid from Big Stone Fire and Revillo Fire, as the burning straw and stored materials created intense heat and rapid fire spread inside the structure.
Three departments worked together to shuttle water to the scene, allowing firefighters to apply the large volumes needed to knock down the fire and prevent further structural involvement.
Once the main fire was controlled, excavators and payloaders were brought in to pull apart and remove the burning straw and sawdust, allowing crews to extinguish the remaining hot spots fully.
Agencies responding included:
· Milbank Fire Department
· Big Stone Fire Department
· Revillo Fire Department
· Grant County Emergency Management
· Grant Roberts Ambulance
· Grant County Sheriff’s Office
· Whetstone Valley Electric
Firefighters remained on scene for approximately four hours.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire has not yet been released.
