Northeast Radio SD News – Watertown, SD - The City of Watertown Street Division and Public Works Department announced Monday that seasonal weight restrictions on local roads are coming to an end.
Springtime roadway load limits within city limits are scheduled to be lifted on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. The decision to remove the temporary restrictions follows South Dakota state regulations.
These load limits are implemented annually as a protective measure for city infrastructure. During the spring thaw, roads are particularly vulnerable to damage caused by heavy vehicles. By lifting these restrictions, the city is removing the previous caps on the maximum vehicle weight allowed on local roadways.
